Description
Description
Soirées musicales, Op. 6 by Clara Schumann is a cycle of six character pieces for solo piano. Clara Wieck composed the set in 1835–36 at the age of sixteen to seventeen. Virtuosic, songlike, and shaped by the spirit of the Romantic salon, the pieces show the influence of Chopin and Mendelssohn.
This edition contains the complete cycle: Toccatina in A minor, Notturno in F major, Mazurka in G minor, Ballade in D minor, Mazurka in G major, and Polonaise in A minor. From the brilliant Toccatina and the nocturnal Notturno to dance-like mazurkas, a narrative ballade, and a closing polonaise, the set forms a varied concert sequence.
The piano score is suited to advanced players in lessons, study, and performance. It calls for a secure touch, rhythmic precision, and a feeling for Romantic color.
A practical edition of Clara Schumann’s Soirées musicales, Op. 6.
